“Seals in the Manuscript Culture of Ethiopia and Eritrea: An Overview”

Having been used in Ethiopia and Eritrea for centuries, seals represent an important but still understudied element of the manuscript culture of the region. The sources for the study of seals and sealing practices are diverse and require different approaches. The presentation aims at providing an overview of the history of seals, their usage, and their symbolism.
