The Absent Image. Lacunae in Medieval Books

Penn State University Press has published a book by Elina Gertsman – The Absent Image. Lacunae in Medieval Books (2021). The monograph discusses the notion of horror vacui and explores how medieval authors responded to the problem of space.

A cross-disciplinary approach to the visual culture of the later Middle Ages adopted by the author will be welcomed by students and scholars of art, religion, physics, philosophy, mathematics and anyone interested in the visual culture of the later Middle Ages.
