Magda Szpindler, assistant professor at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Warsaw, in the Department of Turkish Studies and Inner Asian Peoples. Her research interests focus on the Buddhist literature of Mongolia and Tibet. As a philologist, she explores manuscripts and xylographs, and texts from different periods. As a literary and cultural studies scholar, she looks into cultural texts from the perspective of narratology, cultural theory of literature, comparative studies, as well as the theory of history. In 2022, Magda Szpindler defended her doctoral dissertation devoted to the critical edition of the popular Mongolian Buddhist illustrated story about Maudgalyayana (Mong. Molon-toyin). She continues her research on Buddhist parables and didactic literature in Mongolian and Tibetan.
