Zofia Załęska, M.A.

Zofia Załęska, an art historian and associate at the Institute of Art History, University of Warsaw; she is preparing her doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Antoni Ziemba. Her research focuses on dance scenes depicted in the margins of late medieval manuscripts. In her academic work, she explores the history and iconography of dance, as well as the relationship between dance scenes and the textual content of the manuscripts in which they appear. Her interests extend broadly to the culture of medieval Europe, emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach to its study. In 2023, she was awarded a research scholarship by the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission during which she conducted a project titled Marginal Dance Scenes in Medieval Books of Hours at the University of Pennsylvania.
