The “Rubrum” Student Society

The “Rubrum” Student Society operates within the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Its supervisor is Dr. hab. Weronika Liszewska, Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts.

The aim of the Society is to enable its members to develop and deepen their knowledge of the broadly understood conservation science, with a particular focus on the protection, conservation, and restoration of historical manuscripts. Particular emphasis is placed on objects with parchment substrates and wax seals. Additionally, the Society seeks to promote the individual achievements of its members in this field.

The “Rubrum” Student Society pursues these objectives through:

  • organizing lectures and workshops for members to expand their knowledge and prepare them for participation in conservation projects;
  • developing conservation projects and carrying out conservation work on historical objects;
  • conducting research in museums and cultural institutions that hold manuscript collections;
  • hosting lectures and workshops;
  • initiating collaboration with students’ societies from other universities that wish to explore similar topics;
  • submitting proposals to the Student Government and university authorities regarding the study program and the functioning of the academy.
