Guest talk: Peter Sjökvist / Looted Libraries, Looted Books: The Swedish Case

As part of the Mercuriale Seminar at the University of Warsaw’s Institute of Classical Philology, Dr Peter Sjökvist (Uppsala University) will present a paper related to his recently published book Looted Libraries, Looted Books: The Swedish Case (Brill, 2024). Abstract: It is well known that the Swedes plundered many libraries in continental Europe during the seventeenth century. In comparison, less has been said about the reception and curation of the books in their new contexts. Based on my recent Looted Libraries, LootJed Books: The Swedish Case this question will therefore be addressed in particular in the present talk.
