SIGLUM lecture: Katarzyna Mikulska “Manuscripts from pre-Spanish Mexico”

Research Group for the Study of Manuscripts SIGLUM extends an invitation to an online lecture (in Polish) on manuscripts and picture writings from pre-Spanish Mexico “Księgi dni – manuskrypty dywinacyjne z przedhiszpańskiego środkowego Meksyku” by prof. Katarzyna Mikulska from the Institute of Iberian and Ibero-American Studies at the University of Warsaw. The lecture will take place on 20 January, 2022 at 18.00 via Zoom.
Prof. Katarzyna Mikulska and her research team have been working on a comprehensive edition of Vatican Codex B (Vat.lat. 3773), carrying out codicological and material analysis of the codex in collaboration with the MOLAB experts from Perugia (a branch of e-rihs.it consortium). The manuscript, executed before the Spanish conquest of Mexico, gives an excellent insight into the Aztec religion and culture. It contains, among other things, a description of the Aztec calendar and prognostics rendered in the form of pictures and inscriptions.
